Lizbeth H. Didriksen, M.D., FAAP
Dr. Lizbeth Didriksen, originally from Boston, Massachusetts, completed her undergraduate education at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she received a degree in chemistry. She continued on to Saint Louis University School of Medicine for her medical training. After graduating from medical school, she completed her pediatric residency at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis. Dr. Didriksen then began her career as a pediatrician in Edwardsville. She eventually joined Dr. Bard in 1993, and together, they originated Bard and Didriksen Pediatrics.
While providing care for area children, Dr. Didriksen has served as a member of many committees and boards in the community, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Illinois State Medical Society and Madison County Medical Society. She served as the Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at Anderson Hospital, and is currently the Chairperson of Emergency Medical Services for Children, Illinois Region IV. She also serves as a regional faculty participant for the American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advanced Life Support Program. Current hospital affiliations include Anderson Hospital, SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She has been board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Didriksen has volunteered her time by participating in medical mission trips to Jamaica several times in the past few years. She feels that it is also important to help children in areas where medical care is not as readily available as it is in the United States.
Dr. Didriksen also believes it is important to help educate future pediatricians, and therefore has participated in the Community Outreach Preceptor Education Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital since 1994. As a part of this program, a pediatric resident spends time with her in the office setting, learning about different aspects of pediatric practice. She has been appointed Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine.
Dr. Didriksen has never forgotten her heritage as an alumna of Saint Louis University, and she remains a Billikens fan. She can frequently be spotted at Billiken basketball games with her husband. She loves to spend her spare time with her daughter and her husband.
